Facebook has announced it is expanding the notifications tab inside its iOS and Android app

Facebook's new notifications tab will chew through even more information
Facebook has expanded the amount of information you see in the notifications tab on its iOS and Android app.
The social network announced today it was rolling out the updated feature afterrequests from people to see things like friends' milestones and birthdays in their notifications.
Initially, the update will only be available in the US - but Facebook could bring it to the UK in the future.
You'll also be able to see sports scores and TV reminders if you use Facebook to follow teams or programmes.
Facebook has also made it possible to see information about things happening around your community in your notifications.
Enabling your Location History will mean things like local events and weather will pop up in your panel.
Movie fans will also be able to get film listings for nearby cinemas.

Mark Zuckerberg recently gave his first ever speech in Chinese at Tsinghua University in Beijing on why you need a strong sense of mission to change the world
"With this update, your current notification settings will not change, and you can adjust those any time in your Settings," explained Keith Peiris, Facebook's product manager in a blog post .
"We’ll continue to listen to feedback about the information people find most useful and may periodically add more cards to choose from," Peiris wrote.
The social network is already busy pushing out a new emotional expression systemcalled "Reactions" which will finally allow moody social media users to easily hurl non-verbal abuse.
The "innovation" will allow the denizens of Zuckerberg's world to flag posts with a range of sentiments, which are represented as emojis.
Facebook will now let you use emotions instead of just likes
Currently, users are only able to "like" content, which can look a little strange when someone is mourning the anniversary of their mother's death or posting news of a massacre in a faroff land.
Although the news has prompted excitement on social media, many Facebookers are disappointed Zuckerberg has not made good on an apparent promise to introduce a "dislike" button.
